A Bird for all SEASONS Cynthia's
Memorial

Flutter was born on June 12th, 1990 in southern California. Her mother, Buttercup was a Double-Yellow Head Amazon parrot. Flutter's dad's name was Big Boy. He was a Blue-Fronted Amazon parrot.

In 2009 Flutter came to live with Janet and Lorenz in New York City at the end of March of 2009. She flew in from the West coast with me. Boy, were our wings tired!

Flutter had been the loving pet of Cynthia, Lorenz's sister for 18 years. Cynthia's life was cut short by a serious of strokes that, later, we learned, were caused by a metastisized cancer on her aortic heart valve.

Cynthia had a great love and affinity for all animals. Upon her death, she was caring for 2 foster dogs: Sadie and Titus, a wonderful calico cat, Mojave and Flutter.

Mojave is now living with Cynthia's sister in California. Titus and Sadie returned to the Doberman Dog Rescue, where Cynthia had adopted them.

This is what Cynthia had to say about Flutter:

Flutter was hatched May 1990. She is an amazon parrot mix (bluefront and double yellowhead). She is intelligent, funny and a great companion and her favorite pasttimes are teasing the dog and watching the wildlife out the patio door. (did you notice: everyone likes to tease Vibro!) She seems to be handling the dog and cat shenanigans without jealousy or rancor. To her, we are all members of her flock. Luckily, I was able to bring her home while she was still a chick of 6 weeks old. I handfed her until she was weaned and was able to establish myself as Head of the Flock. At 9 years old, she is just barely a young adult and very active and a real playhound. It's been hard this year to give her the attention she deserves with the new kitten last summer, Maggie's long illness and death and then Vibro's seemingly endless surgeries and recoveries. But I try and we NEVER skip 'birdie playtime' every morning on the kitchen window sill while I prepare her breakfast
